The short version

Compare Fonts does not require an account, does not ask for personal information, and does not store what you type. The tool runs entirely in your browser. We do serve third-party advertising, and that advertising uses cookies. The details are below.

Information we collect

What you type into the tool: nothing is transmitted. All processing happens locally in your browser, and your input is never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.

Standard server logs: our hosting provider records ordinary request data: IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp, for security and reliability purposes. We do not use these logs to identify individuals.

Analytics: we use Google Search Console, which reports aggregate search performance. It does not identify individual visitors.

Web fonts: the typefaces shown on this site are served from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests them, your IP address and basic request data are sent to Google. This happens on every page, because showing real type is what the site does. Google states that it does not use these requests to build advertising profiles, but the request is made regardless of whether you have consented to advertising cookies. If you would rather not send that data, a content blocker that blocks Google Fonts will stop it, and the site will fall back to the fonts already installed on your device.

Advertising and cookies

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
